Nature’s Enchantment

Earlier this week I had the chance to check out Tyler Arboretums new exhibit Nature's Enchantment which opens May 29th and will run through October 31st. This is a really neat exhibit which children and adults will love! The whole idea of the exhibit is to take a peak of our make-believe friends that live in the forest, faeries, gnomes and hobbits with 29 unique one-of-a-kind exhibits created by local and regional artisans, woodworkers, sculptors, potters, builders and landscape architects.

My favorites were the Crooked Goblin Shack, the Troll Bridge, a fully-stocked Gnome Depot so the kids can construct faerie houses, gnome homes and other hobbitats. Another neat project that Tyler started was Tyler's Writing Project using the exhibit "What Lies Beneath", which provides the inspiration to write a story or a poem that answers the question.

Nature’s Enchantment Mysteries of The Magical Path

Weave your way in and around nature’s enchanted Magical Path, but don’t forget to first pay the troll toll! Your exploration will lead you to the homes of many of nature’s magical beings—learn about how they protect our natural world and enjoy activities along the way. Nature’s Enchantment Faerie & Wizard Academy

Kids learn the tricks of the trade including Faerie & Wizard etiquette, earn sticker badges for mastered spells, find out their Faerie or Wizard name, and make their very own magic wand—complete with faerie dust! Free with regular admission; no pre-registration required. Rain or shine.


Nature’s Enchantment Wee Folk and Nature’s Secrets

Sunday, September 19, 2010, 1:00 – 3:00 pm


Do you know why faeries, elves and other magical folk are attracted to trees, and what other parts of nature play a big role in their lives? Discover the secrets of the trees, the mystical side of mushrooms and phases of the moon (take home moon activity included). Plus, make your own paper bag mushroom kids craft.
