2nd Saturday In Media

The Media Arts Council will host this month’s 2nd Saturday Arts Stroll February 12, 6-9pm in downtown Media. This is a monthly event featuring the best of the arts in the Media area. All ages are welcome to visit Media businesses and experience visual art, live music, performances and other arts-related activities.

This month’s Main Event is the community theater group, Thespis, Etc., who will take the stage at the Delaware County Institute of Science at 7pm. Thespis, Etc. will perform Gilbert & Sullivan favorites including a preview of their upcoming production “Princess Ida”, as well as numbers from several of their other comic operas including “The Pirates of Penzance,” “The Mikado,” “The Sorcerer,” and “Ruddigore.” All are extremely melodic, interspersed with humor, nonsense, and satire. The audience should come away humming the tunes. All ages are welcome for this free theatrical performance.

The Featured Artist is Deborah O’Rourke whose paintings bring a unique light to realism. Her vivid oil paintings capture nature and the heart of her travels within and outside the US. O’Rourke’s work will be on display at the M.A.C. Window Gallery at Bryn Mawr Trust during 2nd Saturday and all month long.

Other exciting features this month include an eco-friendly Valentine’s Day celebration at Ten Thousand Villages, paintings, mixed media, collage, portraits, original jewelry, a china painting demonstration, singer/songwriters, a guitar circle, tango, photography, student paintings, the “Media Eats Local” student art contest participants, and more.

More than 40 businesses participate, opening their doors to art and music fans. Visitors who brave the cold will enjoy the warmth of creativity, craftsmanship and community that the 2nd Saturday Arts Stroll proudly promotes.

The Media Arts Council works to support local artists and integrate a wide range of arts into the life of the entire community of Media, PA. M.A.C. is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization accepting donations from the community that will support our programs. All donations are tax-deductible.
