A few weeks ago a friend e-mailed me to say she signed her kids up for free art classes at the Media Recreation Center sponsored by Kidz Art. I was a little skeptical, but I figured I would check it out plus a fun outing for my 2 little ones. I have to say I was very impressed of how well everything went. The first session was for 2-4 years olds and most of the kids were 2-3 years old. Our instructor Maureen gave each of the kids a plastic apron , then she explained how they were going to paint a picture of rain and a rainbow, again I didn’t think my rambunctious 2 year old could do that, but a huge surprise to me she did and her picture kind of looks like a rainbow with a sun. I really liked how Maureen worked with the parents and kids she did everything in steps and gave the kids this neat plastic scrapper to move the paint around the paper, which was perfect for little hands. The next session was for 4-6 years old so my 5-year-old daughter was taking that session, she saw a picture beforehand of a mouse with cheese and she said mom I cannot draw that, guess what she did again I was impressed. It has been almost 2 weeks since the class and my daughters are still trying to show everyone who walks through the front door their pictures. Don’t think you missed the boat because they are still offering some more classes check out Media‘s Website http://www.mediaborough.com/Parks%20&%20Recreation/default.asp
