Media’s 2nd Saturday Celebrates Summer Fun

Summer Fun at Media’s 2nd Saturday Arts Stroll
Saturday August 14th
6-9 pm

The Media Arts Council (M.A.C.) will host family-friendly fun and more at the 2nd Saturday Arts Stroll on August 14, 6-9pm, in downtown Media, PA. This month features activities especially for children and families, along with the visual arts displays, live music performances and community spirit for which 2nd Saturday has become known.

The Main Event this month is Makin’ Music Rockin Rhythms, the multi-award winning group of talented teachers/performers who have built a following among children and families for their lively performances, classes and camps.

Additional activities for children include face painting with Jeffrey Dougherty, a paint-your-own necklace project with Jolie Shamlian, “Music, Art & Me” with World of Song (begins at 5:30), pipe cleaner critters with Media Arts Council, free water ice with Friends of the Free Library, a book reading/signing by children’s artist and fisherman Kirk Werner. And summer could not be complete without tie-dying with the Community Arts Center. For this event, children’s t-shirts will be provided in limited quantity. Participants are also invited to bring their own item to tie-dye.

This month also features a wide variety of live musical performances including a garage band festival, violin, guitar, steel pan drums, singer/songwriters, rock, and a women’s concert. Visual art exhibits include photography, oil paintings, original jewelry, pottery, and student artwork. Other activities include tango, magic, Reiki, massage, and more.

The 2nd Saturday Arts Stroll is a monthly event where businesses in downtown Media extend their hours and host arts exhibits and performances, offering local artists the opportunity to shine and Media visitors the opportunity to experience the arts. Events are coordinated by the Media Arts Council, a non-profit organization of volunteers.
