4th of July Parades and Fireworks in Delaware County

Below is a list of parades, events and fireworks for the area. Don't forget
Wawa Welcome America
celebration in Philadelphia that includes a parade on July 4th, an ice cream festival and outdoor movies. Click here for the calendar of events. Please let me know if I forgot any and I will ad them to the list.   Happy 4th of July!





Friday July 1st
Chester
Harrah's Chester Casino & Racetrack will kick off the holiday weekend on Friday night with fireworks over the Delaware River. The fireworks will go off at 10pm. (Kids are not allowed in the casino but many people have told me that in the past you can see the fireworks in Eddystone and most parts of Chester)


Haverford
Friends of the Grange present a patriotic evening to celebrate the Fourth of July with the Grange Estate's customary Independence Day Celebration.
Friday July 1st— 7:00 pm-9pm
On the Mansion Front Porch — Light refreshments will be served
Admission $12.00.

Upper Darby
The
Upper Darby
Band will celebrate Independence Day with a concert and fireworks show Friday at Upper Darby High Memorial Field, Lansdowne Avenue. The gate opens at 7 p.m. Rain date is July 2. Showtime for the event sponsored by Upper Darby Department of Leisure Services is 7:30 p.m. with the big fireworks show set off at 9:30 p.m. Admission is $4 at the gate.  No lawn chairs or coolers are permitted inside the stadium.

Saturday July 2nd

Ridley Park

Ridley Park will kick off the borough’s Independence Day celebration July 2nd at Eastlake Park,  Fireworks will begin at dusk.

Longwood Gardens "Fireworks and Fountains" display is truly memorable and you can see the extravaganza July 3rd 9:15pm

Linwood

Norwood
Fireworks July 3rd Lower Park, Cleveland Ave.starting at dusk

Monday July 4th



Aldan

The Aldan 4th of July Association's annual Independence Day celebration begins 11 a.m. Monday with the borough's annual patriotic parade

The parade will proceed on Providence Road, east to Elm Avenue, south to Magnolia Avenue, west to Sycamore Avenue, and north to the borough park.

Aston
Aston township will hold its annual fireworks display at dusk on Monday at the Sun Valley High athletic field.

Ardmore (Haverford Township)
Ardmore Independence Day Celebration on Monday, July 4th
10:00 AM Parade Starts at Chestnutwald Elementary goes to Elwell Park
There is no rain date for this event. If the weather is questionable, please check their website to verify.

On Monday at 9 a.m., the mayor’s annual walk/run will take place on the waterfront . Registration at Barry Bridge Park/PPL Park Stadium site.

Clifton Heights
Fireworks at Clifton Heights Athletic Field, N. Springfield and Church St. on July 4th, 9:15 p.m.


Collingdale
Collingdale's Fourth of July Celebration will begin at 8:45 a.m. with the Wake-Up Motorcycle 

followed by the Grand Parade The parade will end at Collingdale Park, where there will be the annual flag-raising ceremony in cooperation with Marshall-McKay VFW Post 5428, American Legion Post 669 and New Destiny Christian Center.  
The Collingdale Seniors will then distribute ice cream to children 12 and under with a ticket. Field Events will begin around 10:45 a.m. The water slides and moon bounce will be open from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. (children must be accompanied by an adult). Events will conclude around 2pm.

Glenolden
The Glenolden 4th of July Committee will host a parade on Monday. The parade will begin in the parking lot of the Wells Fargo Bank, MacDade Boulevard and Ashland Avenue, at 10:30 a.m. The Baby Parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Knowles and Scott avenues. Any borough resident wishing to be in the parade should register at Glenolden Park Sunday from 6-8 p.m.


Hilltop (Haverford)
The Hilltop Civic Association’s Independence Day celebration takes place Monday July 4th, beginning at 10 a.m. The parade begins at the Bon Air Fire House on Royal Avenue in Havertown and concludes at Hilltop Field.

Lansdowne
The Union Athletic Association plans to hold its Independence Day celebrations on July 4th, 2011. A full mile-long parade with marching bands, antique cars, children's decorated bikes and floats will begin at 9:00 AM. In the evening there will be a great fireworks program at
Penn Wood High School field with live music beginning at 7:45 PM. 

Marple Newtown
Come out and watch the parade on July 4th starting at 10 AM. Parade starts at St. Alban's circle in Newtown Square and travels down West Chester Pike to the Broomall Fire Company. Stop by the fire house for free refreshments such as hot dogs, pretzels and bottled water. (rain date is Saturday, July 9).



MediaThe Media Recreation Commission will hold a fun morning at Barrall Field on State and Edgemont streets starting at 10 a.m – 12:00 pm.on Monday

It is a day of food, fun, and entertainment. Live performance by Silly Joe. There will be a water slide, crafts and games for the kids. For more information, please contact the recreation office at 610-566-5210 x255

Radnor
Garrett Hill Parade will be Sunday July 4th. Opening ceremonies of the parade is at 10:45a.m. at Clem Macrone Park.

Radnor
The annual Radnor Township July 4th Fireworks will take place Monday at the Radnor High School fields on King of Prussia Road. Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. and the fireworks will begin at dusk. The stands will be open, or you can bring a picnic basket and chairs and sit on the field. . Tickets purchased in advance at the Township Municipal Building, 301 Iven Ave., Wayne, are $10 and tickets at the gate at $15.

Rutledge
Rutledge 4th of July celebration will begin at 9 a.m. at
Melrose Terrace and Swathmore Ave. followed immediately by the judging in various categories.

Swarthmore
Swarthmore borough will have a full morning of Fourth of July events with a traditional town flavor on Monday beginning at 8:30 am.

Springfield
Parade starts at 9 am. Rain date is Saturday July 9th. At 10:30 am activities at Memorial Park start. There is a flag raising ceremony, greetings and salute to veterans, Firehouse Five concert, Free Ice cream for all, free buttons and balloons, field events after concert, pony rides, face painting, a juggler, a clown and a balloon man. In case of inclement weather, postponement information will be broadcast by KYW 1060.


Thornbury Township
Thornbury will hold its Annual Fourth of July Parade, Monday, July 4th. Parade along Glen Mills Road to Thornbury Park. Refreshments and games at the park. Formation begins 9:30 am at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Parade begins at 10:00 am

Upland
Upland annual Fourth of July family picnic will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday at Bristol Lord Field, located at Sixth and Church streets. You need a wristband to attend this event.

The free event will feature food, treats and beverages; music provided by a disc jockey; and children's games, including a moon bounce, dunk tank and pony rides.
