An American Tradition brings seven of the world's best marching music ensembles to PPL Park on Saturday, July 6 for an Independence Holiday Celebration. These ensembles comprised of young people under the age of 22 represent the very finest in brass, percussion, and dance will be performing 12 minute productions based on a wide variety of musical styles. This unique, family-friendly event features high-octane musical performances that will entertain and amaze.
Drum corps are among the elite marching music units in the world. Each group consists of 150 young performers under the age of 22 who are proficient in one of three demands: brass, percussion and color guard. The units’ summer performance schedule consists of six weeks of events across the North American continent, performing on regulation football fields with music as diverse as jazz, blues and classical. Each corps’ members represent 10-20 states and several international countries. The groups travel approximately 15,000 miles each summer and participate in up to 50 events in 25 states. The corps perform before a total audience of 300,000 students and fans in venues which range from high school stadiums to university and professional facilities.
