ALICE IN WONDERLAND WORKSHOP AT MEDIA THEATRE
The Media Theatre has a fun new approach to theatre education with its “Alice in Wonderland Theatre Workshop” Saturday mornings beginning April 9. The workshop is for ages 6 to 12.
The eight-week course, which meets for 90 minutes each Saturday, combines basic stage skills with the famous Lewis Carroll story in a script adaptation which allows the class to portray the colorful roles while strengthening their craft. The course culminates in a performance for family and friends which will focus on the acting abilities of the youth in the class.
No experience is necessary for this acting workshop, although for those who have previous acting class or stage experience the workshop will assist in focusing skills.
The “Alice in Wonderland Theatre Workshop” will be performed without extraneous set pieces or full costumes and will allow the youth to grow as actors who ‘live as truthfully as one can under an imaginary circumstance’, which is famed acting coach Sanford Meisner’s definition of the truth in performance.
