Fall Flax and Textile Day at the Colonial Plantation

Fall Flax and Textile Day

September 28, 2013

11:00 -5:00 with last entry at 4:00

Winter is coming and it is time to process our flax and spin our wool. Our weavers will be working on our 18th century barn loom. Yarn will be dyed using authentic receipts. Come see the horned dorset sheep and hog island sheep of the Colonial Plantation as well as the rest of our farm animals. See the complete process -skirting, washing, dyeing, carding, drop spinning, wheel spinning, knitting and weaving. There will be bobbin lace, tape loom and lucet demonstrations. There will also be hearth cooking, garden, farm, and house tours. Young children may make candles, as well as visit with William Penn. There will be story time at 1:00 and 3:00. The young ones will then have an upclose visit with our farm animals. Enjoy a day in the country that is very close to home.
