New Year's Eve Family Events in the Philadelphia Area

New Year's Eve will look a lot different this year, but it doesn't mean you still can have fun with your family at home.  Fun Things has gathered a few ideas to help make the day/night a little more memorable.

Virtual Events

Winter in Franklin Square Virtual New Year’s Eve Family Celebration
For those in the mood to ride the carousel, play Chilly Philly Mini Golf, or see the Electrical Spectacle Holiday Light Show presented by PECO in person on New Year’s Eve, the Square will operate as normal from 5 – 9 p.m.

Winter in Franklin Square Virtual New Year’s Eve Family Celebration will be shown on Franklin Square’s Facebook and Instagram Live at 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 31, concluding with a virtual Square Drop at 6 p.m.

During the 5 p.m. broadcast, families can create crafts with items from home, watch a showing of the Electrical Spectacle Holiday Light Show presented by PECO, and participate in fun dance lessons. Crafts include noisemakers, confetti poppers, party hats, and print-at-home coloring pages.

New Year's Eve in Kennett Square

The Mushroom Festival and Kennett Area Restaurant and Merchant Association are hosting the 8th Annual Mushroom Drop.

Due to COVID, this year's event will be virtual.  You can watch from home or park at KHS to watch our countdown at midnight.

Our "Lighted Mushroom" will be raised at 9 pm at 600 S Broad Street.

Since we can’t be together in person at the Museum on New Year’s Eve, we create fun ways to celebrate ringing in 2021 with us from home!

At 7 a.m. on New Year’s Eve, our Countdown from Home video will be live on our website homepage featuring music from Trinidelphia and a special Countdown to 2021 with Squiggles from Hamilton Hall!

Your family can decide what time to celebrate the New Year with your children – play the Countdown from Home video just before noon, at bedtime, or anytime in between! The video has a 20 minute run time, so plan accordingly!

Fireworks

New Year's Eve Fireworks at Sesame Place

“C… is for Celebrate!”

Rock out with Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Cookie Monster, and Count von Count, as their music fills the air and the sky is covered with colorful bursts of brilliance. Be sure to watch us paint the sky red (and green and blue) from inside the park. This impressive display will certainly give you something to celebrate this New Year!
