What to do this weekend with your family? Here is a list of things you can enjoy with your family this weekend. There is so much to do for families and kids, especially now that most venues are open and happy to welcome you back.


Nature Tots are back at the refuge! Children ages 3-5 and an adult are invited to explore nature with a refuge ranger! Participants will enjoy story-times, crafts, hikes, and more! Registration is required.


We’re giving the most important meal of the day a BIG upgrade! Enjoy a delicious, socially distanced outdoor breakfast buffet, right next to our three towering giraffes. After you’ve cleared your plate, you’ll enjoy an exclusive giraffe feeding! Space is limited for this event, so don’t delay in purchasing your tickets!



On the first Sunday of every month, the Barnes offers free admission and programming to its visitors. Guests can enjoy talks, performances, and hands-on activities throughout the day. Tickets are limited and must be reserved in advance.



The Circus Vazquez performing artists come from different parts of the world. Get ready for a turbo-charged take on the traditional circus that’s sure to thrill audiences of all ages. From graceful dancers and daring trapeze artists to a hilarious clown, this gasp-inducing performance gathers tons of amazing world-known talent under the big top for a huge dose of family fun. magic and joy to people of all ages!



Join the fun at The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire  The Renaissance fair occurring over 13 weekends from early August through late October on the grounds of the Mount Hope Estate and Winery in Manheim, Pennsylvania. 



This year’s public environmental programming will look a bit different due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of a scheduled program led by our staff naturalist, we will be introducing new signage with fun facts, self-guided nature explorations, and exciting challenges for our park visitors! This month's theme is Monarchs.




Visit the whimsical world of Mo Willems and his cast of lovable characters, including best friend duo Elephant and Piggie, faithful companion Knuffle Bunny and The Pigeon, the wily city bird best known for his antics in Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!

Activities in the exhibition will give children the opportunity to make art that is inspired by Mo Willems and to learn about the social and emotional lives of the author’s popular characters.

Come sail with us! Kalmar Nyckel offers river cruises, day sails, and appearances from May through October in 2021. Sails are limited to 25 passengers, and reservations are required.



Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest is one of the Philadelphia Waterfront's favorite Summertime traditions featuring outdoor roller skating, boardwalk games and rides, mini-golf, and great food and drinks, all with soaring views of the Delaware River and Ben Franklin Bridge. Summerfest is the perfect place for a family outing, a school trip, or a meet-up with friends.



Travel back in time 66 million years ago and journey to an age when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Encounter 24 life-size creatures, learn about these prehistoric giants, the rise of humans, and our impact on wildlife and the planet!  Timed tickets are required.



Reel in fun and enjoy a day fishing at Linvilla's Orchard Lake!  Orchard Lake was originally constructed to provide irrigation water for some of the farm’s many crops.  However, creating a fishing destination was an equally important priority.  In 2004 trout fishing opened at Orchard Lake, and it has been a popular activity ever since.  Reserve tickets in advance.

This pared-down, FREE, version of the Ice Cream Festival invites you to bring your picnic lunch, chairs, and blankets to relax outdoors at beautiful Rockwood Park as you browse the shops of  First State Flea Market, listen to great live local music, and enjoy great local ice cream and the Wilmington Brew Works Beer Garden. Come out to support small local businesses and spend some time with your community. 



Join us for monthly naturalist-led walks through the 160-acre park at Newlin Grist Mill. We will meet year-round residents, visit exciting migrants, and learn the basics of bird identification and biology.
Families and beginners are welcome for these free bird walks! 


Discover the wonderful, worm-filled world of soil! Create your own mixture, plant a seed in it, and watch it grow! 
This week we’ll be joined by our friends from the Delaware Museum of Natural History (DMNH) who will be providing some extra fun! Dig into DMNH’s compost bin for a look at dirt’s most well-known resident—the worm! Learn about other dirt dwellers and meet some, too!



The Bethel Fire Company will be holding a Carnival starting Tuesday night June 22nd thru Saturday night June 26th from 6pm – 10pm each evening on the grounds of the old Francis Harvey Green School 3220 Foulk Road, Garnet Valley, PA 19060. Come enjoy rides, food, and games. Proceeds benefit our all-volunteer fire department.



We are excited to bring live entertainment back to our beloved amphitheater this summer, and we're committed to keeping a healthy environment for our audience, entertainers, and staff members.  The Summer Festival in Rose Tree Park runs from June 26 to August 22 with concerts at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays at the outdoor amphitheater in Rose Tree Park


As you stand on the deck of Tyler’s pond and take a look around, you are likely to see frogs, turtles and maybe even fish, along with the tiny aquatic plant called duckweed. Look closer and you may see water striders or spiders on the water, patiently waiting for a meal.  We will learn about many of the animals and plants that call Tyler home. Pre-registration required.
            


Peter Pan is a classic tale about a boy who never grew up. The three children of the Darling family are visited one night by Peter Pan in search of his rebellious shadow. Peter takes the children to Neverland, where there is an ongoing war between Peter’s gang of Lost Boys and the evil Pirate Captain Hook. Join Peter and Tinkerbell on this exciting adventure full of faith, trust, and pixie dust.
All Performances located at Hedgerow Farmhouse at 146 W. Rose Valley Road, Rose Valley, PA 19086. NO TICKETS SOLD THE DAY OF ON-SITE. Make sure to bring your favorite beach chair and blanket.

Join us Sunday, July 18th from 12:00pm until 2:00pm we will be reading from a children's book, the children will then do a hands-on activity, go on a behind-the-scenes farm tour, and then you are welcome to picnic in our grove!



Excavation days will be occurring throughout the year from 10am to 3pm. Please note, for this season we will not be allowing hands-on public participation, but visitors will have the opportunity to watch the archaeologists work and talk to them about the process and their finds!

We have two bands for your entertainment while you dine!  The Whiskey Trail is a band from right here in Media, PA who plays Irish music but also covers all genres from Johnny Cash to Bob Marley to the Beatles.  The Whiskey Trail will be performing from 10:30am - 1:30pm.  Entertaining us for the afternoon from 2pm-5pm are the Manatawny Creek Ramblers who are a Philly area Bluegrass, Indie Folk band playing a mix of traditional and original music.

Concord Township Easter Egg Drive-By 

Concord Township residents are welcomed to drive by/through to pick up a bag of Easter eggs. The bag will have 25 candy-filled eggs, a craft, and a small toy. Three lucky bags will contain a “Golden Egg”!


Hop your way into spring at our super fun Easter Egg-stravaganza! Take a wagon ride to the “Hunting Grounds,” where kids will find 6 candy-filled eggs, get a prize and meet the Easter Bunny. A great way to kick-off the spring season. 



Bring your family to the Reserve for an outdoor Easter egg hunt this spring! The event will include crafts, hand painting, socially distanced games, an egg hunt, and a visit from the bunny! Don't forget to bring your camera. Reservations Required



Hop' on board the West Chester Railroad and take a 90 minute round trip along the beautiful Chester Creek from West Chester to the historic Glen Mills village. The Easter Bunny will be on board our heated decorated train handing out treats to all passengers!



The Easter Bunny will be visiting, and everyone is invited to drive by and say "Hi!" and wave/honk or however the Spirit moves you to share a greeting. Treat bags will be distributed. 




All are welcome to join us for our Expert Fishing Derby which boasts the biggest fish and biggest prizes! Orchard Lake is stocked to capacity with hundreds of our biggest and best Rainbow Trout. This derby is where you’ll find our most competitive fishermen and fisher-women alike. This is your chance to win the grand prize and a year's worth of bragging rights!


The Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation will reopen on March 27, 2021 for the opening of our 48th season! See all our farm animals especially our new Leicester Longwool sheep, Hog Island sheep, and Tamworth mixed-breed pig.
