The Media Arts Council (M.A.C.) will present a beautiful start to the holiday season with the 2nd Saturday Arts Stroll on December 12, 6-9pm in downtown Media. Visitors are invited to get into the holiday spirit as they enjoy the sights, sounds, and shopping opportunities of this walkable, art-filled event.
The Main Event is a holiday concert at 7-7:45pm at the Delaware County Institute of Science. Media area singer/songwriter/musicians perform their songs from the Peace On Your Way CD, offering diverse perspectives on the holiday season through a variety of musical styles from blues to Native American music, zydeco, and folk. Peace On Your Way is executive produced by Media residents Wayne G. Harvey and Tom Mullian. Proceeds from the CD benefits the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition.
This month’s featured artist is Madeleine Kelly, exhibiting at the Court Diner. Kelly is an award winning artist whose work is grounded in impressionism, but often borders on the abstract, who creates landscapes, portraits and still life work in watercolor and pastel. She has exhibited extensively in the greater Philadelphia area and is a M.A.C. Registry artist.
The 2nd Saturday Arts Stroll is a free, family-friendly, monthly event offering visitors the opportunity to participate in concerts, exhibits and activities featuring local artists and musicians. Businesses in downtown Media extend their business hours to host these events. This month, 45 businesses participate, with art exhibits at 12 locations featuring painted silk, pottery, paintings, student artwork and photography. Music performances are featured at 16 locations including holiday music, a gospel choir, Native American flute, folk, rock and guitar. Additional attractions include lapidary demonstrations, Reiki, Tango, musical theater and Santa’s Village.
