"How I Became a Pirate" at Upper Darby Summer Stage

How I Became a Pirate
August 8, 9, 10
at Upper Darby Performing Arts Center

Ahoy! Set sail for the high seas when Upper Darby Summer Stage presents the rollicking new musical adventure “How I Became a Pirate” based on the popular children’s book by Melinda Long and David Shannon.

Shows are performed on August 8, 9, 10 at 10:30 am and on August 9 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $6 -$9 and may be purchased online at www.udpac.org or by calling the Box Office, 610.622.1189. Each performance is approximately one hour and appropriate for children five and up. Free babysitting is available for those too young to quietly enjoy the show.

About the show
Young Jeremy Jacob (Early Jackson of Drexel Hill) is digging in the sand at the beach when he is recruited by the friendly Captain Braid Beard (Tristan Horan of Havertown) to help find the perfect digging spot for his treasure. The Captain and the pirate crew welcome Jeremy on board their ship and share with him the ins and outs of a pirate's life at sea, including how to talk like a pirate and "proper" pirate manners and etiquette (or the lack thereof!). The pirate world proves to have many surprises for Jeremy not the least of which is when the fearsome pirate Sharktooth (John Wendling of Drexel Hill) admits to him thathe is really just a sensitive guy!
Terrific songs like "A Good One to Boot," "Green Teeth," "You've Got to Talk Like a Pirate" and many others will have audience members casting off to sea and enjoying the pirate life! The show is a zany adventure about finding one's own heart - a path that can't be found on any treasure map.
