Fun Things 2019 Fall Activities Guide

The kids are back to school and cooler weather is on the way. There are plenty of hayrides, apple festivals, pumpkin picking, and many more fall events happening in the area this fall.






September 14th through November 10th

An annual trip to Pumpkinland has been a family tradition for generations of Delaware Valley Residents. During the months of September and October, Pumpkinland takes center stage at Linvilla Orchards. Larger than life figures and scarecrows illustrate the legends and lore of the harvest season, local history and some of the many stories of pumpkins and apples.







September 13th through November 2nd

Cherry Crest Adventure Farm is a 15-acre farm located in Lancaster, with 50+ Farm Fun activities, including the Hay Chute Slide and Straw Bale Racer, Jump Pillow, Farm Tour Wagon Ride, Petting Zoo and Farm Experience Center, Corny’s Ball-cade, and everyone's favorite the Corn Maze.




September 21st -October 27th

Visit Pumpkin Garden where your kids will love the pillow bounce, moon bounces the brand new barn bounce and pumpkin jump. Have a blast with the corn cannon. Mine for gems at our all new gem mining experience. Visit with the animals at the Petting Zoo. With train rides, pedal carts, hay bale mazes, and more the kids are sure to have fun! But the fun doesn’t end there! Take a hayride down to the Pumpkin Patch to pick your own pumpkin. Or see if how quickly you can find your way through the 5-acre corn maze.





September 27th -October 30th

Linvilla Orchard's famous Hayride to the Witches’ House is a hayride to visit the friendly Witches’ House in the woods. The witch tells stories and jokes and gives all of the kids a treat. The hayride ends at a campfire where you receive a sample of apple cider and marshmallows to roast.



October 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, and 27

Philadelphia Zoo is adding a little green to your Halloween with the return of Boo at the Zoo!
Enjoy festive fall offerings available for purchase throughout the Zoo: hot apple cider, reusable Boo at the Zoo trick-or-treat bags and much more!
Set out on a Scarecrow Scavenger Hunt and discover your favorite animals in the form of life-size scarecrows!


September 20th -October 31st

For 26 years, the Haunted Hayride at Arasapha Farm has been scaring its visitors with amazing props, digital FX, great actors and extraordinary professional makeup. The Haunted Hayride is a 25 minute, action packed, heart pounding ride through the dark forest of Arasapha Farm.

September 21st - November 3rd

Hayrides, Corn Maze, the Pumpkin Patch and all other attractions return on Sept. 22nd. 
The Secret Agent Corn Maze -- Journey into a world of intrigue and espionage.  From the Cold War to James Bond, the world's nations play the dangerous game of misdirection and double agents.  Maze design includes iconic imagery from spy movies.



October 17-19

Watch local artists carve huge pumpkins (5-9PM). See candle-lit carved pumpkins Fri.-Sat (5-9PM). All Three nights of family fun, food, live music and hayrides!


October 25th-27th

Thomas, Mavis, and the Strasburg Spooktacular offers a unique opportunity for young engineers and their families to take a Halloween-decorated, 20-minute ride with everyone’s favorite blue #1 engine, Thomas the Tank Engine™ and to meet Sir Topham Hatt™, the Controller of the Railway!

October. 26th at 1pm [rain date: Oct. 27]

Everyone’s a kid again when it comes to Halloween horrors and freaky fun! Bring the family for another one of Media’s ‘monster’ street festivals. 


September 9th - October 27th


Every September, Peddler’s Village hosts a famous scarecrow display that brings visitors from around the world. For seven fun-filled weeks, two hundred scarecrows grace the winding pathways of the sweeping, autumn-tinted Village property. Some are inspired by famous characters, some are humorous, some are meant to be scary – but all of them are carefully handmade and contributed by Philly-area residents and organizations.

Village visitors are invited to vote on their favorite scarecrows during the display, which begins on September 9. Voting continues through October 7, and the scarecrows will be on view through October 27. The creators of the winning scarecrows receive prizes.

Pumpkin Days at Tyler Arboretum

October 12th -13th

Celebrate the season with Tyler’s Pumpkin Days celebration. Enjoy two days of family fun with music, games, crafts and more! Assemble your own scarecrow, pick a perfect pumpkin, and enjoy a hayride tour through Tyler’s fall colors. With stilt-walker-extraordinaire Samantha Hyman, face painting, balloon animals, and haunted tree houses there’s something for everyone.







October 12th -October 27th
11:30-4pm

Take a hayride along the Brandywine to experience the beautiful fall foliage in the Powder Yard. Guests can create fall-themed crafts, and see a gunpowder explosion, roll mill in action, and working nineteenth-century machines. Included with admission and free for members.




October 28th 5-8pm

Join us for Halloween Happenings at the Herr’s Snack Factory. This is a FREE event, full of family fun. *Hayrides will be contingent on weather. 


 October 26th

1:00pm to 4:00pm

Halloween kicks off with this popular annual scavenger hunt. Children of all ages are invited to join in this free event, where kids search downtown Narberth high and low for thirteen of the witchiest witches around. They collect treats along the way, and then return to the start to collect a Halloween prize.



Weekends starting Oct 19,th -Nov 3rd

Happy Hauntings at Dutch Wonderland is a fun, fall family event featuring themed rides, special entertainment, tasty treats, and the Trick-or-Treat Trail: a safe, interactive trick-or-treating experience included in your admission. It's three weekends of spook-tacular fun!




October 17th- October 19th

5:00pm to 7:00pm

Celebrate Halloween Brandywine Zoo-style with this merry, not scary, event. Kids can trick-or-treat through the zoo as it gets dark in their Halloween costumes!





September 20 - November 3

Come in costume and celebrate silly, not-too-spooky fun at The Count’s Halloween Spooktacular® at Sesame Place®, select dates from September 20 through November 3. Guests can swing, fly and cruise on Count von Count-themed mechanical rides, enjoy special Halloween-themed shows, trick-or-treat around the park, explore our all ALL-NEW maze,“Where’s Slimey?”, participate in a scavenger hunt, decorate pumpkins, decorating and see everyone’s favorite furry friends dressed up in costume!

October 24th at 7pm

Enjoy the costumes, the kids, and the fun starting at 7pm for the West Chester Halloween Parade in downtown West Chester. Parade gathers on Market Street between Church & Darlington and continues down Market and up Gay Street.

Delaware County Fall Events Guide


The kids are back to school and cooler weather is on the way. There are plenty of hayrides, apple festivals, pumpkin picking, and much more fall events happening in the area this fall.


October 7th

The 18th century comes alive during this annual event, with the sights, sounds, and smells of colonial America. This event features demonstrations of various historic skills and trades, including blacksmithing, open-hearth cooking, Native American skills, and much more. Listen to music by the Colonial Revelers, learn colonial dancing, and have your silhouette made. Visitors can shop in the festival’s Colonial Market for handmade goods, including cornmeal ground in the site’s 1704 grist mill. Young visitors will especially enjoy painting a pumpkin, taking a hay ride, and seeing interactive performances by Tuckers’ Tales Puppet Theatre! The Fall Harvest Festival is a full day of fun for all ages.

See, touch, and say cheese for a festive fall photo with our pumpkins! Be sure not to miss our largest pumpkin on display, weighing in at more than 800 pounds in the Idea Garden's vegetable garden.

The OPC Apple Festival is the perfect fall day trip destination! This free event for all ages will feature live entertainment, 80+ crafters, artisans, and vendors, demonstrations, delicious food (including food trucks and dozens of homemade apple pies!), kettle-cooked apple butter made on premises, old-fashioned pressed cider, silent auction, barrel train rides and lots of other fun activities for kids!

Linvilla Orchards Apple Festival honors apples every autumn. This legendary festival could not properly be celebrated in just one day! This two-day event is hosted by Makin’ Music. Pick Your Own Apples are during the height of their season and you can choose from the many varieties grown right here at Linvilla. You won’t want to miss our Apple Pie Eating Contest for bushels of fun!
