Families are invited to connect with nature and celebrate all things trees at Tyler Arboretum’s upcoming Tree House Festival on August 6, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. The event is free with regular admission and will be held rain or shine. Families can bring a blanket and picnic lunch to enjoy on the grounds.
Explore seven Totally Terrific Treehouses and participate in a range of outdoor activities that entice kids and their grown-ups to discover the magic of trees. Saddle up with rope and harness for kids tree climbing under the guidance of a professional arborist from Oakwood Tree Care Professionals. Watch Joseph King the “Tree Carver” recycle an oak stump into an elaborate chainsaw sculpture. Be fascinated by native birds- of-prey during raptor demonstrations by the Academy of Natural Sciences (11:30am and 1:00 pm). Explore the future of trees with members of the PA Chapter of the American Chestnut Foundation, whose kid-friendly display will highlight initiatives to restore the American chestnut tree to native forests. Enjoy make-and-take tree crafts,a tree house scavenger hunt, and a bubble machine that will delight kids of all ages.
