Tree House World

Looking for something different to do with the kids? Or a unique place to have a birthday party or a place for team building. Recently I had the opportunity to check out Treehouse World located on 14 wooded acres West Chester PA.

Tree House World was started by Dan Wright who builds dream tree houses for people. He took his love of tree houses to create a place where kids can play and explore. Kids can climb trees, and zip line through the trees

What to do at Treehouse World

Rock Climbing Trees- with some instruction and help from staff kids and adults can rock climb trees and ring the bell when they get to the top.

Trampoline Bounce- bounce away on a bungee assisted trampoline! The bungee can be adjusted for riders from 20 to 300 lbs.

Buccaneer Zip Line For KidsThe Buccaneer Zipline is a great first or second experience of zip lining. It is about 150′ long and moves at about 10-15 mph, which is about like riding a bike or a horse across the yard except that you’re flying through the air.

Archery Tag- a group activity that involves teamwork, tactical maneuvering, and lots of running around. Players use bows to shoot foam tipped arrows at each other and at targets, attempting to rack up the highest score and take home the glory!

Birthday Parties

Treehouse World is a unique birthday party venue for kids who like to run around, climb, bounce, and generally expend energy outside. Their 14 wooded acres in West Chester, PA, and friendly staff are ready to make your stress free birthday party easy and complete. They offer many option and activities for an exciting and stress-free party!

Valley Creek Zipline Tour
Are you ready for an adventure?  A very fun experience at Tree House World is the zip line tour.  Guest can enjoy Chester County, PA’s only Aerial Zipline Adventure Course with Ziplines right off of Rt 202.  The Course includes 3 ziplines and 8 bridge crossings that take you high above the headwaters of the Valley Creek. The course takes about 90 to 120 minutes for the average group to complete.

My family had the opportunity to experience this fun adventure and they can't stop talking about how much fun they had.  Safety is their number one priority at Tree House World.  You start out at zip school where they explain how everything works and how to use the equipment.  Then you head out on the course. Your group will have 2 staff members to assist them on the course.
The course has various challenges like climbing on balance beams, swinging logs, rope bridge, and gliding through the air on the zip lines.

If you are looking for something fun and different to do with your family or even a unique birthday party than you need to check out Tree House World!

Philadelphia Belle - Great Idea for a Sweet 16

I was recently invited on a dinner cruise on the Philadelphia Belle, the new paddle wheel riverboat at Penn’s Landing. I didn’t know what to expect and my mind went immediately to dinner, boat and sea sickness. But I was very surprised about the elegance of the boat, the quality dinner that they offered and the smooth-as-glass ride this boat offered.

My husband and I pulled away from the dock at around 7:30 and before we knew it, drinks and dinner were also underway. The menu is inspired by their partner Stephen Starr Events. And from the appetizers to the Center-Cut- Filet the entire meal was very enjoyable.

The band started up and it was a little loud for my taste but, I noticed a group of about 15 girls getting up to dance. These girls were decked out in their best dresses and heels and they were having a blast as the band began to play today’s top 40 music hits. They then announced that it was Molly’s 16th birthday.

Since over-the-top sweet 16 parties seem to be popular these days, I think this would be a unique venue you might want to put on your short list. The riverboat, the dinner, great music and the party atmosphere seemed to really be a hit. I am not sure if this would be a budget buster or not but, it’s worth a look.

The Belle can also be a unique way for you to sneak off for some time with your husband or wife, escape from the everyday restaurant atmosphere and have a good time close to home. On a warm summer night, strolling the decks of the Belle would be quite romantic.

Here is some more information about the Belle:

Christened as the Mississippi Belle II in 1994, our four-deck, paddlewheel-style riverboat operated on its namesake river for much of her early career. After undergoing extensive $2 million remodeling, the new Philadelphia Belle will cruise upon the Delaware River from her new home port of Penn’s Landing, between Chestnut and Market Streets, in Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Belle is the largest vessel of its kind on the East Coast. The top deck is open, with three enclosed decks below where guests can enjoy first-rate entertainment, delicious food and beverages, and original artworks—all inspired by the best of Philadelphia. Total passenger capacity is 1,000 guests, with seated dining space available for approximately 700.

The Philadelphia Belle’s stern-mounted paddlewheel and classic lines recall the majestic riverboats that plied the Mississippi River during their heyday from the 1800s to the early 1900’s. Interestingly enough, John Fitch began operating a paddle steamboat service on the Delaware River from Philadelphia to Burlington, New Jersey in 1788.

Fun Things Birthday Party Best List

I have been receiving a lot of request for birthday party suggestions. I thought it would be a good idea to list the birthday party venue, food and cake providers that I have personal experience with. The following list contains birthday product and service providers that I have either used or experienced for kids parties. I am considering making this a permanent feature on my blog so email mail me your birthday party best at tracey@kidsdelco.com and I will add them to the list. Thanks!

Best Cakes
Wayside Market, Media, PA – best sheet cake. If you looking for sheet cake made to order this is the place for you. They can incorporate any birthday party theme onto your cake.
Kyj’s Bakery, Brookhaven, PA – best traditional cake. I love the frosting on their cakes.

Traub’s Bakery, Prospect Park, PA – this is a Delco legend and the cakes are always moist and nicely decorated.
Best Party Venues
Double D Gymnastics, Glen Mills, PA – what I like about Double D is that your party is private. You don’t need to worry about sharing space with others and that makes it easier to keep track of the kids at your party.
Pinocchio's Pizzeria, Media, PA – the back room at Pinocchio's offers great pizza and a private room. The rest is up to you. Bring crafts and activities and this is a good low budget option.
Special Teas Tea Room, Chadds Ford, PA – this place is great for girls ages 5-8. You can really pull off a Fancy Nancy party by having all your guests dress up in their best finery, hats, scarves, gloves and fake pearls.
Makin' Music, Aston, PA – this is a place you can have a high-energy birthday party where your kids can make some noise without getting in trouble
Hidden Valley Farm, Ridley Creek State Park – this is a great place to have pony ride party. They have a small room to have cake and ice cream but the real star will be the ponies.
Linvilla Orchards, Media, PA – if you are having a birthday in the fall, this place is a sure hit. Hayrides, apple picking and outdoor fun. You can’t go wrong.
Color Me Mine, Glen Mills, PA – create your own pottery and keep the kids active. This is a good place to keep the kids active and let them express themselves.
The Creative Living Room, Swarthmore, PA – this is another great creative outlet for your kids. Let the creative staff bring out your child’s inner artist.
Sweet and Sassy, Exton, PA – this is a little bit outside of Delco but if you have a girly, girl, this place offers the full spa treatment and a runway so your little fashionista can show off.
Sproul Lanes, Springfield, PAthis is a nice clean bowling ally and they have dinosaur ball ramps that your kids will just love.
IceWorks, Aston, PA – this is a very large facility and a great place to have a birthday party. It has a separate party room and can offer food and soda packages.
Build-A-Bear Workshop, Springfield, PA these parties offer a fun activity and a bear to take home. You could combine this with one of the restaurants in the mall (Friendly’s or Sbarro Pizza) for great party experience.
Winner's Circle, Newtown Square, PA – they have a semi-private room offering video games, fun and good food. Combined it with a night out at the movies at the Regal Edgemont Square 10, and you have a great birthday part for tweens.
Marple Sports Arena, Broomall, PA – this is the ultimate sports arena, from skate packages to mountain climbing packages your athletic 8-12 year old will have a birthday to remember.
Blue Santa Beads, Media, PAanother option for the creative child. Have a bead party, $100.00 for eight kids and they even have an option where they will bring the beads to you for an in-home party.
LoopdiHoops, Ardmore, PAHow about a hula-hoop party? Decorate your hula-hoop or have a hula-hoop dance party. This is another great idea of tweens.
Go Festive FotoBooth Party, Philadelphia, PA – for that really special party or sweet 16, a FotoBooth and dress up clothes can make for a one-of-a-kind birthday.
Best Party Food
Best Pizza
Coco’s Brookhaven, PA – if you like a doughy crust and good sauce this is the pizza for you.
Pinocchio's Pizzeria, Media, PA – the pizza is good but it’s the restaurant that sets the place apart. My family has been going here for years and it’s tradition. Also they have a backroom that’s great for kids birthday parties.
Pat’s Pizza Brookhaven, PA – this is the value play. You can get two medium or large pizzas at a value price.
Best Hot Roast Beef
Ro Lynn Delicatessen Brookhaven, PA – you won’t get lunch meat here, they are doing the real thing. Roast beef with gravy and rolls at a great price.
Sam and Sam, Upland, PA – this a recommendation from a friend. I have heard that this is a great deal for a hot roast beef party platter.

Primo Hoagies, Media, PA – I have never been let down with a Primo Hoagie tray. You get quality meets and bread that your guest will love.
