If your like most families you have been watching the Olympics over the past few days and cheering your favorite athletes on. The Educators at Commonwealth Connections Academy (CCA) are offering families a fun, free, online Olympics-themed trivia game to help kids and their families gear up for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games.
Students of all ages – and their parents – can play the Connections Academy Quiz Bowl Trivia Challenge, Olympics Edition, and then challenge their friends.
The Olympics Edition is available to the public and is inspired by Connections Academy’s year-long Quiz Bowl Challenge – a popular activity designed to educate and recognize Connections Academy students during the school year and one of the many clubs and activities students at the virtual school enjoy.

HONOR OUR VETERANS ON WEDNESDAY
The 50th annual Delaware County Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday 11/11. All veterans with past military service and those in uniform are encouraged to attend with family and friends to salute their brothers and sisters who have proudly served our country.
The parade follows the traditional route west in the borough on State Street from Edgemont to Orange Street, north to Front Street, then left and concluding before the reviewing stand at Delaware County Courthouse, where the ceremony will be held.
The Veterans Day events are coordinated by the U.S. Veterans Legacy Project and the Pennsylvania Veterans Museum.The Museum, 12 E. State St., will be open for visitors throughout the day. Admission is free.

The Media Arts Council (M.A.C.) will host the 2nd Saturday Arts Stroll on August 8th from 6-9pm. This month’s Arts Stroll encourages visitors’ adventurous sides, featuring a scavenger hunt for adults and children. Participants can enjoy the variety of arts presentations while searching for clues and gaining a chance to win prizes.
Participants can pick up riddles at the M.A.C. table on State Street (near Earth & State) beginning at 6pm, or at Earth & State before 6pm. Completed riddles must be returned to the MAC table by 8:30 to be eligible for the raffle. The drawing will be at 9pm, offering gift baskets containing prizes from 2nd Saturday businesses.
Also featured this month will be artist and author David Gerbstadt who will be reading from his children’s book, The Red Heart, at the Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union at 7pm. Gerbstadt is a local artist who exhibits primarily in the greater Philadelphia area. The Red Heart was originally created as a personal holiday message for friends and family, and later published, according to the author, “To bring color, love and smiles to people’s faces.” Gerbstadt is a lifelong artist who believes that art should be for everyone, and creates art every day with materials that are around him.
More than 40 businesses participate in this month’s 2nd Saturday Arts Stroll, with art displays at 12 locations including personal mosaic murals, collages, abstract impressionism, photography, paintings, jewelry, mixed media and rock concert photography. Music at 15 locations will satisfy diverse tastes including 90’s rock, hammered dulcimer, folk, guitar, and a barbershop quartet. Also featured will be lapidary demonstrations, musical theater, an outdoor movie, tango, recycled newspaper bead making, and magic.
The Media Arts Council is a non-profit arts organization working to support local artists and integrate a wide range of arts into the life of the entire community of Media, PA. Nature takes a “bough” at Tyler Arboretum as ten imaginative tree dwellings take root in this centuries-old sanctuary for trees. Each house becomes an outdoor classroom where nature is the teacher inviting visitors of all ages to explore ecology and sustainability while having fun!
Each month of the exhibit, Tyler will host special tree house-related celebrations.
Going buggy! Celebrate Father’s Day at Tyler! “Jon the Bugman” will present his creepy, crawly collection of live and preserved bugs for two interactive shows (at 1:15 and 2:15). Kids can create their own insects to take home with a dryer sheet butterfly craft. The Pennsylvania Resources Council will teach us all about the three Rs: reduce, reuse, and recycle. Calculate your carbon footprint, get some innovative ideas for reusing common household items, and play a recycling game. The PRC mascot, Litterbug, will be on hand.

Need a cure for cabin fever this winter? Come and discover the wonderful world of art at the Brandywine River Museum during Winter Weekends for Families from January 28 through February 26, 2006. Explore the museum's galleries with a Museum Discovery Game where your powers of observation will be tested to find objects represented in works of art. As part of Winter Weekends, visitors will also receive a free copy of the Family Guide: A Museum Activity Book. The guide contains a treasure of activities for children to use during their museum visits or at home. In an exclusive offer during Winter Weekends, visitors may purchase new annual family memberships to the Brandywine River Museum for 50% off the regular price.
On Sunday, January 29, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., discover colorful quilt patterns and shapes during the Warm up with Quilts family workshop. Intended for families with children ages 3 to 10, participants will learn about traditional and unusual quilt designs featured in the museum's special exhibition, For the Joy of It: Appliqued Quilts from the Judy Roche Collection. After a guided tour of the exhibition, participants create paper quilt designs and enjoy refreshments. The workshop is included with regular museum admission. Reservations are required. Also available during Winter Weekends are audio tours for children. Designed for children ages 6 through 12, the tours feature entries on over 30 favorite works of art from the museum's collection, including Bill Bones from N.C. Wyeth's Treasure Island illustrations, Jamie Wyeth's Portrait of Pig, and Howard Pyle's The Nation Makers. Wand rentals are available in the Museum Shop for $3 each. Support for the children's audio tours was provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
